Uniformed service connection: Former EMT.
My name is Dan Pierce. I grew up in Maine hunting, fishing, camping, rock climbing, and canoeing. I live on a 5-acre hobby farm with my family, where we spend a great deal of time gardening, raising animals, and going on outdoor adventures. My background as an EMT and in wilderness emergency medicine led me to work with first responders using the evidence-based REMO HealthRHYTHMS protocol, which has been shown to reduce stress and burnout, and improve mood, creativity, and bonding. I am a Registered Maine (fishing) Guide as well as a counselor, and see the value in spending time in nature. Through years of teaching fly fishing to people from all over the world, I have developed a holistic approach to teaching, supporting change, and guiding both on the water and in other therapeutic settings.
With a history in school counseling, I have transitioned to allow for individual and group counseling through both a virtual platform and in nature-based settings. My years as a percussionist have taught me that everyone has rhythm build into their bodies. Once people find their rhythm, positive life changes and natural healing can take place. I work from a trauma-focused lens which can include using Trauma-Focused CBT, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) with experience using Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) for treating trauma.
My values of community, family, and bonding have directed me to focus on individual, couples, and career counseling. Beliefs, culture, and environment all shape our mindset. I can help you to strengthen, shift, or completely upend your worldview.
