THERAPEUTIC FLY FISHING WITH EMDR (TF-EMDR)℠
Therapeutic Fly-fishing, using rod & reel methods, has become a common adjunct treatment for traumatic stress and co-occurring problems such as addiction and behavioral compulsions. A number of programs focused on treating PTSD for military veterans and first responders have taken root throughout North America, Europe, and Australia. While focusing on trauma these programs use fly fishing as usual, separate from psychotherapy, often without a trained mental health professional present.
Therapeutic Fly-fishing with EMDR (TF-EMDR)℠ turns fly-fishing into psychotherapy. It provides a way to conceptualize the connection of fly-fishing's well known benefits and an Evidence-Based Psychotherapy without each being done independently. We know that fly-fishing and psychotherapy can help a person heal, so why has it taken so long to integrate them? We don't know why, but now it's possible!
