She/Her

My name is Jen Peterson. I grew up in a military family, and during those formative years I’ve enjoyed meeting amazing people and experiencing vast cultures. I am passionate about the mind/body connection and better serving the human condition and one’s personal pursuit of health and happiness.

During my clinical and assessment training experiences, including my APA accredited internship at a Veterans Affairs hospital, I gained numerous hours assessing and providing therapy to adults and children. I have a generalist focus maintaining a case load of adults that experienced psychological disorders, chronic conditions, neurodevelopmental concerns, and symptoms ranging from borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress, generalized anxiety, to adjustment disorders due to family changes. Many of these adults and children also experienced traumatic events in their lifetime, including sexual and physical abuse, exposure to significant substance abuse, and multiple failed relationships. I worked alongside the client to identify psychological repercussions of physical, emotional, and mental trauma with a variety of populations.

I am clinically focused on the integration of the mind/body interaction, concentrating in health, family systems, and neuroscience to build a holistic, ideal treatment for unique individuals. I believe evidenced based treatments are equally as important towards the finest treatment and incorporating a holistic model of health is vitally beneficial towards cohesive recovery. Through years of clinical, practicum, and internship training, I have used third generation cognitive therapies (ACT, CPT, DBT). I have over 2500 therapeutic contact hours with unique and diverse cases. Additionally, I have learned about modern, technological techniques including biofeedback, and the notably high effectiveness of mindfulness, behavioral activation, and the inclusion of family systems approaches towards working with clients and their families.

Finally, my experience with online learning and HIPAA compliant telehealth ranges from personal pursuits to instructing and providing mental health care, and continues to aid in my personal life-long learning adventures. I have worked with varied populations providing therapy and clinical work, as well as consultation to varied professionals, making my knowledge base rooted in experience, research, theory, and theoretical application. I look forward to working with you!
